I forgot about Pecan, it's close but I have to say thats actually #1.  Pumpkin overrated IMO.  Rosco P Coltrane hands down the best sheriff ever.   RCL approaching 200 for heavens sake.

Glad that the smart R&T likes Pecan pie.  Agree that Pumpkin is overrated.

Yes, amazing as to how close Royal Caribbean is getting to a high, rising level of $200 per share.  Here's the latest RCL chart from the Wall Street Journal.  Today is a new 52-week high.  How much more can things rising before there is some type of "adjustment"?

Rosco P Coltrane - classic. 😂

Yes, Coltrane was a classic.  I would add the name of Buford Pusser from the Walking Tall movie.  That was the 1973 American biographical vigilante action film based on the life of a professional wrestler-turned-lawman in Tennessee, played by actor Joe Don Baker.  Remember that one?

From the Wall Street Journal this morning, they had this headline: Inflation Continues Its Bumpy Decline With Mixed September Reading with these highlights:U.S. inflation eased to a new three-year low but is cooling more slowly than expected, new data showed.   The consumer-price index rose 2.4% from a year earlier in September, the Labor Department said Thursday, after rising 2.5% in August. That was higher than the 2.3% rise that economists polled by The Wall Street Journal had expected.

Here is a WSJ chart published today:

How does inflation and current economics affected people's decisions as to whether or not to vacations, do cruises, etc.?

Remember the pop hit song by the Fifth Dimension titled "Up, Up and Away"?  Loved that hit musical classic and how it summarizes this past week for the much of the stock market.  This is especially true for the three cruise stocks during the past five trading days on Wall Street.

From the Wall Street Journal late Friday afternoon, below are their charts for the three major cruise lines and for comparison with the S&P 500 stock index.

As a quick summary, all three of the cruise stock achieved 52-week highs in trading today.  AND, hold the presses, Royal Caribbean was within less than four dollars of being at the amazing high of $200 per share.  Shocked?  Who could have dreamed of this re-bound back in the Spring of 2020 during the Covid shutdown?

It happened early this morning.  Royal Caribbean went over $200 a share early this am in their stock market opening.  New 52-week high.  Peaked at $202.19.   See the Wall Street Journal chart below to confirm this "action".   But, sorry, trouble now getting this CC site to upload correctly.  Will post later when the CC systems are working correctly.  What's behind this stock run-up?

THANKS!  Enjoy!  Terry in Ohio

Now that Cruise Critic has fixed their technical issues from yesterday, below is an updated graphic confirming that Royal Caribbean has jumped up, UP over the $200 a share level.  Below is the WSJ closing chart from late this afternoon.  This includes Tuesday's big, BIG jumps ups for the cruise stocks.

From MSN News today, they had this headline: Americans Are Still Shopping. These Are the Consumer Stocks to Buy. with these highlights: “Shoppers are showing no signs of fatigue ahead of the holidays. Even though inflation continues to crimp people’s spending power, U.S. retail sales for September are expected to continue to pick up steam following a surprisingly strong gain in August.”

This viewpoint reflects consumer confidence in a positive manner.  Also cited in this article:  "Chris Senyek, chief investment strategist with Wolfe Research, is bullish on consumer spending.  He thinks investors should pick their spots wisely. He said that big broadline retailers, such as Amazon.com, are a good bet. Senyek also is making a bet on a rebound in the housing market as interest rates fall. He also recommends the cruise lines, which have all done well this year. Carnival, Royal Caribbean Cruises, and Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings are each trading near 52-week highs."

Investors may have looked at prices on the new 2026 voyages. 😂  I took a quick look to see how some itineraries that I've booked for 2025 are priced for 2026 - and the base fares on those will be 30% higher in 2026 for the same/similar itinerary and suite category as my booking for 2025.

Silversea is also apparently adding a "bidding for upgrade" program Silversea Upgrade | Silversea as another opportunity to boost their metrics.
