Luna'sMom Posted February 9, 2006 #1 Share Posted February 9, 2006 Hi we are thinking of trying Princess this fall. Their new ship will be coming to New York and we are looking at the 9 night to the Caribbean. We have been on 13 cruises but never on Princess. We love NCL for their freestyle dining and we are told that Princess has the same. Any info would be appreciated.
chrysalis Posted February 9, 2006 #2 Share Posted February 9, 2006 The Sticky Thread (at the top of the Princess page called "Princess FAQs" will give you a ton of info, but on the subject to "Anytime Dining", we are big fans of it.
madelinerose Posted February 9, 2006 #3 Share Posted February 9, 2006 Luna'sMom, Welcome! There are many Crown Princess roll calls and lots of info on the Red Hook/Brooklyn terminal on these boards. You may want to check the roll calls and do some searches for info. We will be sailing on the Crown, our first Princess cruise, on September 3. ;)
montgomeryfamily Posted February 9, 2006 #4 Share Posted February 9, 2006 Luna'sMom, welcome to Princess. :) What Princess has is not really Freestyle dining, but it is very close. There is open seating for breakfast and lunch and in the evening Princess offers either traditional dining seatings or a dining alternative which is similar to the Freestyle dining. Usually there are two dining rooms devoted to this "Anytime dining". You do not have to make reservations (although many do make a "standing reservation"). Instead you go to one of these dining rooms during the dinner hours and are seated, either with your party (which can even just be a table for two) or you can join others. If you have enjoyed Freestyle dining, I think you would enjoy the Princess "Anytime dining". The Crown is a new ship, not yet finished, but it is supposed to be very similar to the other Grand ships. You can search the boards for more information. The Sticky thread does have a lot of information. Also, I'd be glad to answer general Princess questions (but haven't sailed on the Crown--no one has :p ) if you would like to email me at kacruiser@ev1.net.
