Getting back to your ship

Has anyone had any problems with getting back to their ship on time?

 

Am looking to book with private tour co. and also get out and explore on my own, but I'm concerned with not getting back in time to board my ship due to no available taxis or my tour guide failing to pick me up on time.

 

Can I tell them when I want to leave even if I'm on a planned excursion? For instance, the excursion runs from 1:00 - 5:00, but I know that I'll want to head back at 4:00.

I would select an excursion which leaves earlier in the day. Since Hurricane Wilma, the ships have been leaving earlier. Since it is not a ship excursion, you are cutting it pretty close.
