I just ran into something interesting.   FOr a couple of months I have been watching my fares to FLL for next March.  Best I have seen has been $145 one way basic economy and $180 for main cabin.  Same this morning.  Went to actually book after lunch and the fares now only show Main Cabin and First Class (no Basic Economy).  Nice part - the Basic Economy fare is now the fare under Main Cabin!  I went ahead and booked, saving the $35 pp (I always book main cabin).  

 

So, if anyone is considering American at this moment, you might want to check the fares today.
