I watched that yesterday as we've recently booked our first Viking cruise. We've booked a V2 so not quite the same as the OS🤣

maybe you’ll befriend whomever is in the OS and be invited to their in room party.

Hello, we leave on 1 September on the Great Lakes 8 day cruise and have booked the owners suite for our 10th wedding anniversary- many thanks for the discussion and tips. We are very excited and also think we will struggle to leave the room!

Hoping to meet some friends to share the wine and space with!

Congratulations on your special cruise to celebrate your anniversary.  I hope you have posted on the Viking roll call forum  for your cruise and there you will find others who are on the same cruise.

Coming from Australia to sail our Great  Lakes will be a unique trip. Every Aussie I have met over the years on  both on land  vacations or cruises are the friendliest people who enjoy a good time. Cheers to both of you 🥂

I cant wait to here all about it.  We have our eye on a Polar Expedition in the OS. Our Adult children will be joining us on the adventure.

You’re bringing them along to show how you’re spending their inheritance? 😉

True story: My cousin and his wife  recently retired. After the pandemic, they ask their two adult children(  spouses and their three children) if they wanted any inheritance when cousin and wife died, or  they could take the whole family to Denmark (the land of our ancestors) for two weeks.  Family voted to do the land trip which they did in 2022. The memories they have  priceless. 🥰

Stayed in the Owners Suite last year. It’s lovely and does feel like having your own apartment. Great room attendant and you are made to feel special onboard (but no difference on land at all if you have the pre or post cruise package).

In hot destinations the sauna isn’t a plus but it makes a great place for drying clothes. Nice large shower, but lack of a bath is weird in a suite this size (with three toilets!). Sitting room is absolutely splendid, beautifully decorated; bedroom small by comparison but lovely bedding. Great to have so many books and fascinating ones at that. Good size dressing room but not enough hanging space. Conference room feels a waste of good space unless you want to chair a few phantom meetings, but it was pleasingly the coolest space when boiling outside. Fun to see if anyone was in Mamsens by peeking through the fireplace.

The wines in the fridge were not (as advertised) Mr Hagen’s personal selection (I certainly hope not!).  They were just the wines from the extra wine package. The good news though is you can ask the sommelier to deliver any wine from the wine list. We didn’t try the Crystal, but there were a few decent reds, nothing spectacular and not great vintages. Sometimes the evening cocktails didn’t arrive, but as the bar is just round the corner not a problem. Got a bit of noise from people chatting outside the door occasionally.

If you like Viking, you’re going to love it. It’s a spectacularly beautiful cabin. We just don’t like the food onboard at all, the lack of entertainment (though the classical duo were great and good lectures too) and found the tours lacklustre.
