NCL Sun and Children's Program

Hi MW5,

We took the West Coast repo on the Sun last fall with our little boy. He's a bit older than yours (8 when we sailed) and so he was in an older grouping. The kid's facilities, however, are all ajoined, and the area for the younger ones looked fine and all of them seemed to be enjoying it. Generally, the program (for all age groups) involved lots of active games, ship tours, sports time outside, crafts, movies, snacks and group meals.

i.e.: The schedule for our sea day was as follows:

9:00 a.m. Beach Ball Bonanza (active game)

10:30 a.m. Helicopter Flight Lessons (simulator - like a video game)

2:00 p.m. Crafty Craft Afternoon

3:30 p.m. Insanity and Grandma's Undies (active game)

7:00 p.m. Cirque Pan Show (the children were taken to the showroom)

8:00 p.m. Carinval at Sea (games, contests, entertainers &

face painting)

All in all, lots to do (kids are not just warehoused) and if your child likes a structured setting and interacts well with playmates, you will all be satisfied with Kid's Crew. As parents, we were very confident with the staff's ability and willingness to care for our child, and he was always anxious to go. If you're nervous at all, the facility is equipped with 'viewing portholes' (our son called them spy windows!:) ) that you can use to observe the goings on at any time. Although activities are strictly scheduled, you are also able to drop off or pick up at any time as it might suit you.

A little more info about the Sun:

The waitstaffs in the main dining room seem to have a real soft spot for children. We were extremely impressed with how everyone went out of their way to please our little boy.

There will be several evenings where the children can eat a group dinner with the Kid's Crew staff. We didn't take advantage, but sure wish we had!

The kid's pool on Deck 12 is calm, private and wonderful if you want to 'chillax' a little bit in the hot tub or on a deck chair. Right beside an outdoor bar too, I might add.:D

I've been on the Sun twice, and am going again, this time with our 4 and 6 year old grandsons, who were on the 10 day Spirit itinerary last April. They love cruising, and NCL has been compared to Disney in the quality of their kid's programs.;) They can't wait to get back to the "Kids Club".

As for the food, I haven't starved yet!
