deck chair Posted November 20, 2020 #1 Share Posted November 20, 2020 Hello one and all! I have sailed over 50 times with Cunard since 1993 and thinking of trying SAGA. Wondering if Americans blend in well. Wondering if there are deck chairs on the promenade deck such as you find on the Queen Mary 2. Wondering if piped in music is pervasive in public rooms. Is is difficult to find quiet spaces? Thank you so very much for your help. Deck Chair.
nosapphire Posted November 20, 2020 #2 Share Posted November 20, 2020 Saga would be delighted to welcome you on board. Because they are a UK ship, sailing from/returning to UK ports, the majority of the passengers are Brits, but on many of the Saga cruises I have been on there have been some American and Canadian fellow passengers (among other nationalities), and they have blended in very well - Saga is a friendly line. There are sun-loungers and chairs, rather than deckchairs, on the promenade decks. The new ships have a lot of open deck space and a very wide wrap-around promenade for walkers, runners and just-watch-the-sea people. They do not do piped music. There is sometimes recorded music playing quietly in the background in the bars, but it is not piped all over the ship. Music is usually live, such as a pianist, classical trio, band, and at designated times in designated areas, not piped throughout the ship, so it will be your decision whether to go to the area and listen or go to another area and not listen.
