Does a Canadian living in US need a Canadian passport to travel Alaska?

Okay silly question but complicated-As most cruise ships dock at a foreign port does a Canadian living in the US need a passport to board the ship?  If so is there an easy way to obtain one?

I am no expert, but, as far as I know, you will need to prove citizenship and identity to enter Canada, a passport is the best.  If you do not have the required documents, you will have to go to secondary screening.  If you do not have the appropriate documents, the cruise line will probably deny you getting aboard the ship in the first place.

Question (I know, none of my business) but how did you get to the US if you don't have a passport?

Your correct- But on the nice side it is a friend of mine and her parents brought her here when she was five...

Since she is still a Canadian (not sure how long she has been in the US) she'll need a Canadian passport to travel. 

I guess she could become a US citizen and then get a US passport to travel.

Either way, a passport is still the best thing to have when you travel.

And if something untoward happens and one has to fly home.  You just never know. (Especially after 2020!).
