JeweliM Posted February 12, 2006 #1 Share Posted February 12, 2006 We'll be travelling with our extended family of 14 in August on the Explorer. It would really make my mom happy (we'll be celebratring her 75th birthday) if we could all sit at the same table each night at dinner. Has anyone ever seen this- don't know if they will "push two tables together". Haven't asked my TA yet either- althought I think she will say no. Ideas? Thanks. Rosieo Posted February 12, 2006 #2 Share Posted February 12, 2006 One cruise we had 18 in our group and they gave us two tables next to each other. That worked out.
Merion_Mom Posted February 12, 2006 #3 Share Posted February 12, 2006 I would think that a table for eight and a table for six right next to each other would be the most comfortable for passengers AND wait staff.
kekecruiser Posted February 12, 2006 #4 Share Posted February 12, 2006 I was recently on the Voyager and we also had a group of 14 (8 adults and 6 Kids) and they sat us at one table. Enjoy!
wrp96 Posted February 12, 2006 #5 Share Posted February 12, 2006 Most of the tables on the ship are round, not square, so it isn't as simple as pushing two tables together.
chotton Posted February 12, 2006 #6 Share Posted February 12, 2006 This past summer they made a table of 14 for us. It worked out fine, service was sometimes a little slower but that was alright with us we had a great time at dinner each night.
howard6933 Posted February 12, 2006 #7 Share Posted February 12, 2006 I think you're going to have a lot of trouble finding a table for 14 on the Explorer. First of all, you have to realize that the tables are bolted to the floor and that makes moving somewhat difficult. I was on Voyager a few years ago with a group of 12. They did manage to get us all together at a table normally used for 10. It was a slightly tight squeeze, but we managed. But 14 would be uncomfortable, so look for two tables right next to each other and you can switch around whenever you choose. ;)
