We are cruising with family on the Mardi Gras  and want to swap cabins once we are on board.Has anyone ever done this ?We would all keep our original room key/sail and sign card ( if they are still in use ) for billing purposes.

Sure people do it all the time. Doesnt matter where you sleep. The customer service desk will even give you a card key to the other cabin if you bring someone with you who gives permission. Just a door key if you dont want to switch billing but then you have two cards to keep up with.
