yeomanry Posted June 3, 2021 #1 Share Posted June 3, 2021 I was wondering if anyone can help with information regarding access at Petra. I don't walk long distances very well but I want to go and see Petra, I am not worried about seeing all of the other sights around it. can anyone give me advice on the best way to do this. Rare Essiesmom Posted June 3, 2021 #2 Share Posted June 3, 2021 Welcome to Cruise Critic. There is a thread on the second page titled Petra. Doing a search might bring up others. To do a search, go to the oval box in the upper right under your username and type Petra. In the drop down box check this forum, then click on the search icon magnifying glass. kokopelli-az Posted June 3, 2021 #3 Share Posted June 3, 2021 I don't know what cruise line you will be on but you might check with their Access Desk (or called something similar) and ask if they will have any accessible tours for Petra during your stop there.
dmccue Posted June 4, 2021 #4 Share Posted June 4, 2021 I have been researching the same and found this https://jitours.com/en/ I sent them a message and they came back quickly with a tailor made tour. Not cheap but at least they can do it

Not cheap but at least they can do it I would be extremely careful. The path down, and it is downhill, is very uneven and in one area has lots of rock's, they do take tourists down on horses or in carages but they are cruel to the animals and we have seen one tip over. Its a great place to visit but extremely hard work we found the return hardest as it was in the heat of the day and uphill. Good luck 🤞
kiwimum Posted June 4, 2021 #6 Share Posted June 4, 2021 Examples of the footing at Petra. Very uneven, little or no shade on the way to the Exchange. Make sure you take water and sunscreen. Check your insurance covers you if you utilize the carts or camels. They are not the safest mode of transport. Did not see any golf cart type of transport in 2019. dmccue Posted June 5, 2021 #7 Share Posted June 5, 2021 The tour I am looking at will take us down in a golf buggy and we can strap the wheelchair to the back of the buggy. As it said it is not cheap - pickup from ship - USD579 each - but at least it is a possibility for a non walking wheelchair user
