Been reading of a number of cases on MSC Virtuosa round UK cruise.A scottish couple who embarked at Greenock were very poorly after contracting covid.

Apparently lack of face mask enforcement on board,queues/free for all buffet and general lax

Hi Jim, I read about the couple from Lanarkshire.  It seems the man had some underlying health issues and is still feeling unwell.  Now they are asking for a full refund.

We sailed from Greenock on Virtuosa and thought the protocols were very good on board. We didn't use the buffet but I understand the food was served to the passengers at that time.

It seems that the problems started when the ship got to Southampton. Some people assuming that as the restrictions had lifted in England that the same applied on board and weren't adhering to the ships guidelines as they should ie. not wearing face masks or distancing.

People are always ready to blame the cruise line when things go wrong.  Even before Covid we are all aware that there were people on board who didn't wash their hands after using the toilet, some who didn't use the hand sanitisers going in to the buffet. Picking things up and putting them back. Seen it all.

Marella have had so few passengers on board for most cruises. It should be easy for crew to keep an eye on things to ensure the safety of passengers and crew. Lets hope it continues if and when the ships get busier.

Hi Nancy,

Yeah that might have been the couple I was reading about...I only happened to read it in one of the rags online.Every chance its been exaggerated.

Your right Nancy regards people ready to blame the cruise line,we live in a blame society unfortunately and as you say, pre pandemic peoples hygene on cruises left a lot to be desired

We,re still in the throes of a pandemic so people are or should be aware  of the risks/chance of catching covid in going to a supermarket never mind holidaying/cruising
