Carnival Blocking 3 or 4 Passengers in Staterooms?

Jut a wild guess...

Maybe they are doing it as a proactive way to limit the number of unvacinated people on a cruise?? When they reach a certain level of children under the age of 12 booked, they then stop booking the 3 and 4 bed cabins. That automatically limits the potential pool of unvaccinated passengers, since they know anyone under 12 will be in that pool.

Rooms are a lot cheaper with a 3/4 people in it. Normally you'd expect since there's less of these rooms you would need to book earlier to get one (we booked over a year in advance for our cruises as even at that point there was only 1 room available left for four people in the price point we wanted). With everything going on and probably also a money factor of wanting to get the most out of the passengers it makes sense to limit rooms to 2 people at this point.

This is only happening thanksgiving week, 2021 and 2022. It’s shady.

That isn’t accurate. My Freedom cruise on 10/17/21 also won’t allow bookings with 3-4 passengers.
My friend removed one person that can’t sail and tried to replace them with someone else and Carnival said they are not allowing any 3-4 person bookings for the time being. For those that are already booked it’s fine but you can’t change existing bookings or do new bookings.

My husband and I both were offered “free balcony room, $1000 casino credit, $200 OBC, and free drinks”.  We cruise with our child (now 12 and vaxxed).  I called to book and we were put in connecting balcony rooms so each room gets all of the above.  Perfect!  2 rooms, extended balcony and 2 bathrooms!   One room has 2 of us and the other one is listed in 2nd room.   No extra charge for the solo room.   Heard that it was due to COVID and I couldn’t be happier.

Fine by me.  Fewer munchkins running amok and coughing and sneezing and unwashed hands ad infinitum.   Not that I'm anti kids.  Nor dislike families cruising/vacationing together.  Just  being a grumpy old man😆

We are grumpy old people too and part of the reason we chose our sail date was due to kiddos being in school.

We have a booking for 3 on the Freedom for thanksgiving. It’s a rebooking from thanksgiving 2020. We rebooked last December 2020. I like to do mock bookings with different variables to check prices. I haven’t been able to select a 3/4 person interior cabin on the carnival site since like early June.

Haven’t heard anything from carnival yet, but it’s early. However our daughter is 14 and vaccinated so she’s not part of the 5%.

We had the option to book an interior cabin for 3 on Breeze in October but it was less expensive for us to book 2 cabins, which works better for us anyway. The bookings are linked so hopefully will be nearby at least if they can't be in connecting rooms.
