Casino cashier mgr said she was running out of $100 bills for customers?

12day cruise

 

it was around day 7.

i bought in for $1000 and cashed out for $2500.

went to cash in the chips because i fear losing $500 chips. (i've lost a $100 chip in my pocket before but luckily i found it 5min later.)

 

the cashier mgr remarked that she's running low on $100 bills but she gave me the $2500 in $100s.

2 days later, i exchanged $95 in chips and a $5 bill for a $100 bill. (i didnt want to walk around with so many loose chips in my pocket.)

she remarked that she wished i didnt do that.

 

This a ploy to keep me gambling? (much easier to return to casino to game if i have chips vs cash.)

if not, why would the cashier be running low on 100s? 

dont they replenish their tills the $ from the table games from the previous night?

I'm not much of a casino go-er.  On our hopefully upcoming cruise (if its not cancelled) we should have a significant OBC due to price drops, FCCs, etc.  We have booked shore excursions and plan to do specialty dining, shopping, extra tips, etc.  Maybe splurge on a bottle of Veuve Cliquot.  But.... if we do have a chunk of OBC left can you remind me of the process to convert this to cash?  I believe there is a charge but I'm just wondering how and if it can be done.

Keep in mind that not everyone cashes in. You have OBC, promotional casino credit you can buy online, and just a room charge. 

 

With the price reduction, many of us now have substantial OBC. I doubt I'll hand any cash to a dealer. I'll just play my OBC.

If they are running low on 100s, that may mean many players were on a winning streak like you and cashed out.

 

Regarding the $ 95 in chips I suppose you could have bought another $5 chip, and exchanged for one black chip, and avoided having to interact with the cage manager.

Most likely many charge the buy in to the ship account, but take the payment in cash.  Cheaper than an ATM on board ship.

Charging on ship account for table games is 5% surcharge if you're not high enough tier level
