We are going on a Mediterrean cruise this spring. Has anyone taken the tours from the ship and if so, were you happy with them? We will be visiting Rome, Venice,Villefranche,Livorno,Naples,Santorini, Piraeus and Dubrovnik. We will start in Barcelona. Any ideas on what to do there. We will be staying at the Majestic. Thanks!:)

Sounds like you will be on Millennium - we did it last year and it was a wonderful cruise! Below is a link to the Roll Call board. If you click on "Roll Calls - Millennium" and then look for the date of your cruise, other people from your cruise will be sharing info on excursions etc.

 

We only did one Celebrity excursion - the Florence on Your Own bus, so can't comment on the ship's tours as this was just a ride into Florence and back by bus, with commentary from a guide during the bus ride. The rest of the ports we did on our own by public transportation, except for Naples where we did a shared private tour with others who we met on our Roll Call.

We were on the Millennium for our European cruise to many of the same ports. All of our tours were through Celebrity. If I had to do it again, I would choose the tours that took you into the cities and left you off for at least 5 hours on your own. Rome and Livorno (Florence especially). You can pre-order tickets for the Accademia without having to pre-pay. For Monaco/Monte Carlo you may wish to take a ship tour; tending is slow and traffic can be a night mare. The tour that includes the Grand Casino was very good. We have yet to go to Venice, Naples, Santorini, Piraeus and Dubrovnik. I wish they would change ships in Europe and I would be there. Someday.
