Bostwick girl Posted September 25, 2021 #2 Share Posted September 25, 2021 (edited) Was on Magic August 30 and yes, the pool was open. And yes, the buffet was open, same as always. You do have to wear your mask unless you are eating, and you do serve yourself. Don’t know when you’re planning to book, but it sure was nice to not have long lines for anything. Reduced capacity is nice! Edited September 25, 2021 by Bostwick girl Additional info.
groundloop Posted September 25, 2021 #3 Share Posted September 25, 2021 (edited) YES and YES. We just got off Magic two days ago and it was business as usual. In my most humble opinion Carnival has done a good job modifying a few things in the buffet, but other than that and wearing masks when indoors you'll notice very few changes. I'll add that I wasn't sure what I'd think of wearing a mask all the time I was indoors. As it turns out it was no big deal at all and in fact many times I left it on while outside simply because I forgot about it. I have no clue why a few people either didn't wear masks when they should have been or else wore them as chin diapers. Also, Carnival had crew stationed at a few places on the ship reminding people to mask up and provided guests a mask if they didn't have one with them. ellenmb Posted September 25, 2021 Author #4 Share Posted September 25, 2021 Thank you for responses; So when in the casino I assume you need to wear a mask too? Thank you!
Colorado Beach Bum Posted September 25, 2021 #5 Share Posted September 25, 2021 Yes, masks in casino, shows, shops, to and from tables in food areas and elevators. Not required walking around even indoors so you will see people not wearing them but again it’s not required.
Bostwick girl Posted September 25, 2021 #6 Share Posted September 25, 2021 While on Magic in August, while playing in casino and you were drinking, masks weren’t required. On day 3 a crew member tested positive and the rest of the time you had to be masked in the casino except when taking a sip of your drink. Signs all over saying “Cover, sip”. Me & hubby are going on Magic 10/7. Are they cruising full capacity or is it still less? Thanks, and we are so looking forward to cruising again. On day 3 a crew member tested positive and the rest of the time you had to be masked in the casino except when taking a sip of your drink. Signs all over saying “Cover, sip”. We got to experience the exact opposite - they were incredibly strict in the casino the first two days. More than once, with an ecig literally in my mouth, a staff member approached me to offer me a fresh mask and remind me that masks were required in the casino when not drinking or smoking. Always the same staff member - maybe she just wasn't familiar with ecigs? One time I got a little snide and suggested that if my ecig didn't qualify as smoking, I should feel free to puff on it anywhere on the ship. My husband made me feel guilty about that - it really must have been the most awful job on the ship. I'm very, very good about masking up indoors - with an n95, no less - so it felt like she waited for me to take mine off to puff in order to come chide me. Anyway, starting on the third day, it suddenly stopped. I wasn't approached again, even later at night when I was drunk enough to be puffing nearly constantly. I checked online, and we were green when we'd been yellow before the trip. Can't be sure that was what caused the change - perhaps casino travelers complained to management about her overzealous enforcement - but it would make a lot of sense if they tailor how strict they are to known current risk.
