Phaedra_11 Posted February 18, 2006 #1 Share Posted February 18, 2006 We are currently booked in an inside room on Grandeur of the Seas. On the deck plan, the room goes from left to right (horizontal). We know that the bed will be under where the window would be if it were an oceanview room. We've been in one of these rooms before and know that that the rocking of the ship (when you are in bed) makes you go forward and backward NOT side to side. Do the inside rooms that go up and down (vertical) have beds that face the other way? (therefore would rock us side to side). I don't even know if that made sense. Thanks! Petert Posted February 18, 2006 #2 Share Posted February 18, 2006 Hi Phaedra, Nothing strange about your question when it concerns your comfort aboard the ship. If you substitute fore and aft and side to side for horizontal and vertical it becomes easier to visualize. There is not much choice in placing the beds in a standard room configuration so they will be oriented parallel to the aisle between the closets and the head (bathroom). The Granduer spends most of its time in the Gulf of Mexico and will have little motion to contend with in fair weather. Whether the ship rolls and/or pitches depends upon the direction of the waves, wind and swells. The direction that the ship sails will make a complete circle between leaving Tampa and returning, so you will have a hard time guessing about the roll or pitch conditions. Hope you have some great weather for your cruise, and that you enjoy your vacation. Petert
wrp96 Posted February 18, 2006 #3 Share Posted February 18, 2006 I will tell you that my last cruise the ship rocked both back and forth (bow to aft) and side to side (port to starboard). In fair seas, neither of these are an issue. If you hit any kind of rough seas though, you may get all kinds of movement. If you are worried about movement, choose a low deck cabin (as low as possible) and one mid ships (as close to center as possible).
