newbie55 Posted February 20, 2006 #1 Share Posted February 20, 2006 My sister and I are going on March 2, out of Tampa. I've read in several threads that people have boarded quickly at 11:00am or so, but reading my documents, we're told we can board beginning at 3pm. I don't want to miss a minute on board - do we go early, or wait until 3? This is my first time with RCI - first cruise with Princess, we waited until the boarding time posted in the documents, and found out we missed a cocktail party, we could have boarded much earlier! Thanks! Kim
Sheffie Posted February 20, 2006 #2 Share Posted February 20, 2006 Kim, go early! I didn't realize I could do that till I read about it here on CC. What a wonderful thing it is to be on the ship early, check it out, eat lunch at the Windjammer, get a drink and watch everyone else boarding HOURS after I did! Go early and enjoy! kruisecat Posted February 20, 2006 #3 Share Posted February 20, 2006 We leave this Sat (YEAH!) on Grandeur and plan to arrive at noon even though our docs say 2pm boarding. The only caveat is that you cannot get into your room until 1pm so don't bring too much that needs to be carried around. Happy Cruising!
tamilyn Posted February 20, 2006 #4 Share Posted February 20, 2006 Just off Graudeur last week. We arrived at the port in Tampa around 11:30 and checked our luggage onto the boat. We could have gotten on but decided to walk around the port for a while. They have a really nice port. There are several places to eat and some nice little shops to browse in. There is also a movie theater, which I thought would be a good idea after the cruise if you had a late flight out, but I didn't check the hours of operation, etc. Anyway, you can get on the ship early but not in your room until after 1:00 p.m. which is not a big problem as there is certainly enough to do to occupy your time. Hope this helps.
wolfcathorse Posted February 20, 2006 #5 Share Posted February 20, 2006 Our documents said to board at 2 pm. HAHAHA, we got there at 12:35 and were on board by 12:50. Had to wait for them to allow acess to the cabins, which occured at 1:02 pm.
