Hotel for 2 nights pre-cruise in L.A.?

I have a Norwegian cruise out of L.A. on Jan. 9. Originally, I had a flight arriving late on Jan. 8, so I just booked an airport hotel. (I've never been to L.A.)

 

Yesterday, I changed my flight to arrive on Jan. 7 just in case there are any disruptions, so now I have a full day in LA pre-cruise.

 

I'm guessing that an airport hotel is not ideal anymore. I've checked out hotels near the port in San Pedro, but they're either sold out or $$$$.

 

Is Redondo Beach a good area to spend a day? Any other suggestions? Thanks.

I would suggest Santa Monica rather than Redondo Beach, but it depends on what you want to do for your time there.

What is your budget for a hotel, who is traveling and which hotels in Redondo Beach are you looking at?

 

The hotels in Redondo Beach at King's Harbor are fine, but Redondo probably wouldn't be my first pick. Manhattan Beach or Santa Monica would.

 

I probably wouldn't stay the Redondo Beach hotels that are next to the 405 Freeway, unless I had a car.

I just booked a 2-night stay at Hampton Inn in Hermosa Beach for around $400 total.
