Cash For Cruise?? Or Credit Card??

Hello everyone, it's been several years since my last cruise and we are boarding the Mardi Gras at the end od February 2022! My question is regarding bringing "cash" which I've always done - OR - getting a card that I load all my cash onto (I'm sure they have them?) And use that for any purchases as well as for the casino. I don't know if you can do that for the casino or not? I'm just trying to avoid a heavy amount of cash and would rather be able to just use a "card". Any tips ??? Thank you!!!

We just got off the Mardi Gras and it was very easy to use the discounted gift card from AARP.  We bought $500.00 card for $450.00 right on the ship and brought them to guest services to redeem.  We settled our bill using gift cards.  We had some left over so we cashed them out at the casino as to waiting for them to send us a check.

Credit card for ship things.  Not a debit card, but if you get a refillable Visa or Mastercard, as long as you keep track of spending that's all you need.  Everything, including the casino, operates off your Sign and Sail card which is linked to your credit card.

Use Cash for anything in ports of call. Don't try to get cash out of your credit card in port ATMS.

Is there a reason not to use a debit/credit card for your sign and sail account?

A credit card is fine.

I wouldn’t use a debit card though. My friend’s debit card was hacked after she used it to open her S&S.

  • Thanks 1
