TTCruiser Posted February 22, 2006 #1 Share Posted February 22, 2006 You know how every port seems to have that "don't miss" bar? Well, I was wondering if anyone had a suggestion for a good, lively place in San Juan that has that same type of atmosphere that you'd find on other islands. Some place memorable, with a good variety of drinks...but not a franchise, like the Hard Rock. Thanks!
texancruzer Posted February 22, 2006 #2 Share Posted February 22, 2006 Want some real Puerto Rican salsa ? They invented it you know. While on 2 night precruise stay prior to our 11/26 Serenade sailing we went to 2 clubs in Old San Juan for salsa..... the Newyorican was highly suggested but lo and behold they had a jazz band that night so we went to the Rhumba Club. They had a 6 piece salsa band (locals) and we danced but mostly watched the locals salsa.... they were good ! Both clubs are where the locals go so definately not a Hard Rock kind of place. Newyorican had a cover tho while Rhumba Club did not. Drinks where a little high at Rhumba but very strong. Neither are fancy but one on main street and other right off of one and lots of people all around so pretty safe. Any taxi driver knows these two spots.
