What's different on Diamond vs. SApphire

The Diamond was originally the Sapphire and vice-versa. The Sapphire started out as the Diamond but caught on fire and they had to start over, so the Sapphire hull under construction was called the Diamond because Princess already had brochures and press releases stating that Diamond Princess would be the first ship out of the yard in Japan but after the fire Sapphire would be ready first and it would have confused the snot out of everyone. Clear? :)

Other than that, not much.

Other than the “art” on the walls and staircases, the ships are identical. Ship’s officers, crew and talent change all the time.

The production show “Piano Man” was/is on both ships. Makes sense when you think about it, identical ships makes it very easy to produce sets for two ships at a fraction of the cost.
