CruiserLucas Posted February 12, 2022 #1 Share Posted February 12, 2022 Hi all, the last posts I could find about this specifically seemed to be from 2019 (if I’m mistaken please direct me to the newer answers if this already exists), but does anyone have info on whether Harmony has video poker (I’d assume so) still and updated pay tables? The posts from 2019 said they were bad 6/5 payouts then, and I doubt they’ve improved them since. I’m new to playing video poker, I’ve playing simulation games to learn more and get the hang of it. I used to only play craps - something I got from my father while growing up in Vegas. I live fairly far from any good casinos, so I mostly just gamble on our cruises and wanted to try it out if it’s worth it on the ship in a few weeks while we’re aboard. Any insight from more experienced folks is much appreciated! 😊 thanks!
AftMan Posted February 12, 2022 #2 Share Posted February 12, 2022 Hello CruiserLucas. I am frequently on Harmony and play video poker 99% of my time in the casino. Your reference using the pay schedule term '6/5' implies that you may be looking for Jacks or Better machines(or Bonus Poker?) with good pay tables? 9/6 Jacks or Better machines were at one time the standard for video poker grinders. Pay tables will often change as you increase your bet. I have never seen 9/6 pay tables on a cruise ship, 8/5 yes at high denominations. While I can't offer specific pay tables for Harmony at this time, I will be on Independence next week and Harmony March 12. Happy to note pay table information for you at that time. Most ships have Jacks or Better, Bonus Poker, Deuces Wild, Double Bonus and more at single line and multi line(up to 10 lines) options. As a side note, Wizard of Odds has a free training mode for many of the common video poker games under 'play for fun'.

The Reflection in Feb. had mostly 6/5 J or B at %95. The other games offered were even worse in my opinion. But I did play them, only game around... If you begin playing a game at a certain pay table (6/5, 8/5, etc) and you start at 25 cents a credit and, for example, move up to $1 a credit (which increases your bet X 4), the pay table stays the same. The only way you can change the pay table is to change games or change machines, which probably will have the same pay table.

A games pay table will often change as you increase your base bet. Most often to your advantage on the ‘full house’ and ‘flush’ payouts for games such as Jacks or Better and Bonus Poker. Stating that ‘the only way to change the pay table is to change games’ is verifiably false.
neurosurg Posted December 27, 2022 #8 Share Posted December 27, 2022 Just to add more to the original question. Yes there was a slight bump in the pay table on Harmony (at least this summer) for the video poker if you played the $1, $2, or $5 denomination. It went from the "worst" 6/5 pay table at 25 cents to "worst minus one" at the 7/5 table when betting $1 or above. (this was for Jacks or better and Double Double bonus - I don't remember the other games). The two video poker machines in the high limit room (corner) did not have any better pay tables. Both pay tables options stated are poor for video poker.
