Boarding requirements prior to embarkation out of Naples, Italy

Our party of six will be flying to Rome for a pre-cruise exploration of the city.  We’ll be there for a few days/nights and then drive to Naples the day/night before boarding.

On embarkation we each show them our vaccination record(s)-listing our two shots and a booster AND the written record of the results of a Covid test taken prior to embarkation (maximum of 48 hours prior).

Will that be it or will they test us again once on board?  If so…..is it a temp check?  And does MSC test each time you return from an excursion?

Also, does MSC do a complementary Covid test for passengers before they disembark?  Or do we have to have that done on our own before we get to the Rome airport to fly back to the U.S.?

Thanks!!

Currently there are no tests after each shore stop. There still is a test at embarkation. But this should be quick as Naples is not the major embarkation port.

There are no complimentary tests at the end of the cruise for traveling home. An antigen test is 25 Euro onboard.

Complimentary tests are only the one made at embarkation and tests which are needed to enter a country along the ship´s itinerary (there were times Italy required a test).

Currently there are temp checks at embarkation and daily when you enter a restaurant onboard.

Of course this can change...

When ?

Italy (and most of the EU) are currently in the practice of relaxing covid testing requirements for foreign visitors, you may not need the testing for entry into Italy.

MSC may or may not follow thru and remove testing requirement for getting on board, we need to wait and see. Thats why when you are travelling is important, seen many posts on this boards about people asking about covid requirements when they aren't even travelling for 6 months!!! They are changing all the time, and TBH I wouldn't be looking and planning until within at least a month of your travel date, probably two week.
