Elevator to the Zuiderdam Retreat is out of service indefinitely

We booked the Retreat on the Zuiderdam and were surprised that the single elevator is out of service and is expected to remain out of service for the remainder of our 35 day cruise.   We were told that it has not been working since the restart.    

 

So, if you can't climb stairs, make sure you verify the elevator status before you book a retreat cabana.    

 

We are ok using the stairs, but I was surprised that this information wasn't provided at booking to avoid any surprised after boarding.

wow, that's really good to know.  We have one of the family cabanas on April 3-10 cruise and my mom can't do stairs and my upcoming knee replacement  knee isn't going to dig it either.
