Linking bookings for dining together?

We are sailing with friends on Journey at the end of this month on our first cruise post Covid.
Do we need to link our bookings so we can dine together in Discoveries and Windows? Or can we just show up together like we have done in the past?

At least on the Quest last month, you could just show up and dine together. In fact, they allowed us to do shared tables.

You only have to book at the speciality restaurants.  You do not book the normal dining venues.  Just all show up together you will be fine whenever you want to dine.  There are no set dining sittings
