Enjoy the cruise!  We will be onboard in July.  My burning questions are about testing protocols, entry requirements for Canada and re-entry requirements for US for vaccinated passengers.

1.  Was ArriveCAN required to board the ship in Seattle?

2.  Is testing required to re-enter the US?

3.  If testing is required for US, is it complimentary for vaccinated guests who booked the cruise prior to November 2021?

We are flying on American to Seattle from North Carolina on Thursday the day before the cruise with a return flight on Saturday the day after we debark.  I want to be prepared if we need to figure out testing on our own.  Should we bring proctored test kits with us and hope WiFi works?

Thank you!

How crowded is the ship? Does the ship have Cellar Masters or Craft Social? If it is still Cellar Masters, is there a place on board to sit and watch sports?

We board Solstice on July 1st. Interested in the answers to these questions too!

How are the shops onboard? Are they well stocked?

We have a bunch of OBC so I may need to do some shopping.

I find the shopping style vastly different from EDGE of course due to smaller shops. Stock is good especially as far as watches go (lots of stuff on clearance). Haven't checked out ilounge yet.

Overall the cruise is excellent as far as weather is concerned. I have done Alaska 4 times now and this is the best weather I ever had for the glacier. Pulling into Juneau as I type this.

As far as the ship goes... a bit disappointed they didn't take the opportunity to take better care of Solstice during the last two years. Still using magnet stripe key cards that are faulty all the time. My Aqua Class shower was broken and nobody seemed to notice before me trying a first shower. Service a bit slow and I have a feeling that a lot of the staff in inexperienced. Went to BLU three days now and food was always cold once it arrived at the table. Will try the MDR tonight or just pay for specialty dining. Saturday I went to the buffet after BLU.

Casino got very stringy with offers for active players. The list the future cruises desk got from them only had 9 people on it including a new friend of mine who played exactly similar levels.

Overall it's Alaska and the scenery is what counts. I can live with the rest.

Thank you for the updates….can’t say I’m happy to hear about cold food in Blu…how is the entertainment?  Live music?  Shows in the theater?  Are the drinks at least good? 😜

Food quality is probably the most disappointing factor so far. Today I'm eating crab here in Juneau so no need to have dinner on board. Yesterday there was broiled Dorade featured at BLU. Dish came out and the fish was ice cold. I had to ask TWICE for it to be exchanged. Then the Cherry Jubilee as dessert... presented in a bowl of totally molten ice cream. Like molten to the point where you had it sitting on the table for 25 min. When I complained about that the answer from the server was "The cherries are warm so the ice cream melts". What a bunch of poppyc**k I'm getting the Cheery Jubilee whenever it's offered for years and it never came out like this. BLU is getting a beat down in the survey this time, it's a joke!

The only drinks I had were at the Captains Club events and the Apple Martini was so strong it could bring a dead sailor back to life. 😛

Plenty of live music in the Atrium and Sky Lounge. Haven't attended any shows yet.

Oh and as far as Juneau is concerned we're at the horrible AJ dock again as both downtown docks are occupied by HAL. Last year on Millennium we were lucky to be docked downtown.

I also hope our OP returns with a quick report, but also hope they are having so much fun they don’t have the time to return.

But my question is — who are the captain and hotel director?

Captain Harris & the HD is Mario.

You don't need to test to return to the U.S. on a ship that initially originated in the U.S. as well. Also, how would that work to "figure it out on your own"? Throw passengers over board or leave them in Victoria if they can't magically test themselves? Anyway it's not required.

ArriveCAN is mandatory. Just print it out or at least have the email ready for inspection. 🙂

Fly and Sail, thank-you for all your responses. I'm wondering if Solstice has Cellar Masters or Craft Social. Is there any bar that has TVs playing sports?
