Best Cabin(s) on Conquest / Glory / Valor for a Family of 5 ???

We're a family of 5 (children ages 7, 4-1/2 & 3). We've cruised with Carnival 3 times before we had kids. Since then, we've only cruised with Disney. Now that our kids are older, we're planning a trip on the Valor for 2005 summer. Would appreciate your suggestions on the best cabins for us, in terms of capacity, convenience, noise level, amenities, safety, and whatever else you can think of.

Are there cabins that accommodate 5 (or more) on the Carnival Destiny-class ships? If not, I guess we'll have to settle for 2 connecting cabins, which I saw many choices on the floor plan (although I think they only had them for inside or window cabins).

Thanks in advance for your suggestions & help.

I know that 4 can sleep without too much trouble in a CAT 11 or better on the bigger ships.2 to the "main" bed. 1 to a "mattress" type thing they keep under the main bed and 1 to the sofa. When thinking of more than 1 cabin,I cannot advise. Since the children are small you could put two to the bed in a quad. There are two doubles that you can leave seperate or push together and one that comes down out of the ceiling annd a couch bed.

Sensation has a family cabin that accomodates 5 people.

Hi mfan. We, too, are a family of 5. There are many posts discussing this issue...if you can get the search feature to work. I will share our experience, just in case.

There are certain Carnival ships that will and others that will not allow 5 in a room. The three ships you mention (Conquest/Glory/Valor) do not. The Destiny does (we have sailed on her).

Having just sailed the Glory, here is what we did. We booked adjoining rooms and the internal doors stayed open. Now, that does usually mean more $$$ over booking 5 in one cabin.

We had no problem with the five of us in one cabin on the Destiny and the Paradise. It was our desire to try a new ship that got us to spend the extra for 2 cabins on the Glory.

SO, that is our story. If you have any questions, just ask. Good Luck!

I have a friend that was booking for 5 and they had to do connecting cabins or 2 seperate. Due to over capacity resons they will not let you book any more then what the capacity of the room. I just booked our family of 4 and a catagory 11 was not a choice - the will only book/accomidate 3 in that room. Cat. 12 will handle 4. My children are 9 and 12 so we are getting them a room accross the hall from our balcony! yea!!!! Good luck!

may i suggest you get you TA to contact Carnival and see which ships will offer that option. As a TA myself, we have not had a whole lot of luck booking more then 4 to a room on carnival.

Thanks, everyone, for your positive feedback. We're very familiar with the strict adherence to cabin capacity by cruiselines. All 3 times we cruised with Disney we had 2 adjoining cabins. Despite the higher cost, we actually prefer it. We always take a baby monitor with us, so we can get some privacy by closing an adjoining door after our kids are asleep... Thanks, Legend, for confirming my suspicion that Conquest class ships do not offer 5-passenger cabins. (My mistake for calling Valor a Destiney class...)

Given this, can anyone suggest the best location for adjoining cabins? Has anyone stayed in one (whether you utilized it or not) that you'd recommend?

Thanks!

Just to provide some further information, the Spirit class of ship will not accommodate 5 passengers to a cabin either. You will need to book a Destiny or Fantasy class ship if you wish to berth 5 people in a cabin.
