Insurance for cruise credits?

Recommended Posts

We had a 2020 cruise cancelled by Celebrity because of covid and were given cabin credits which we are using for a cruise in October.

Can we take out trip cancellation and interruption re those cruise credits?

At one time, insurance companies did not recognize vouchers or credits as forms of payment since they had no cash value. You could still buy insurance for medical but not cancellation; however, Covid has changed some things in the world of travel insurance.

This is a question for a professional because all companies may not insure vouchers. Those that do will cover only the base amount not any bonus FCC. Also ask about what is considered the initial deposit date as that determines your eligibility for time-sensitive coverage like pre-existing conditions or CFAR.

I agree with Babr.

Like flying on points, the insurance companies consider points to have a $0 cash value.

However, you are from Canada. Canadian laws may be very different in this area. Speak with an insurance broker in Canada.
