King Kam Hotel Kona beach?

Am I correct that the King Kamahamaha Hotel is very near the cruise pier in Kona and that there is a nice beach there? Can someone please advise whether there is any natural shade near or on this beach. I am not into baking in the sun for hours!

There's really not much beach in Kona, but King Kam has one of the best ones in town. Kona does have some incredible wave action though. For dinner, go to the Kona Inn (other end of town) and watch the waves crash against the retaining wall. There's also a big stretch of lawn that is great for the kids (or adults) to run around on while waiting for dinner to arrive. Best fish in town too!:D at least in our opinion.
