GOQ Posted June 8, 2022 #3 Share Posted June 8, 2022 I have also booked this cruise, but in the reverse order, Sunshine States and Sands followed by American Dream. The turnaround Port is Port Canaveral so we get to spend a day there and the Port is right next to the Kennedy Space Centre. So we might get lucky and see a rocket launch and hopefully visit the KSC itself.

We visited KSC a few years ago from Orlando. Well worth going, we'd been told to allow 2-3 hours but actually spent much longer. There is a visitor centre with film shows etc. They take you out to the launch pad on a bus and explain all, as we got off the driver very casually mentioned the satellite going that day! We queried this and he said it should be going but they are often cancelled for various reasons. We asked at the reception and they said we could not stay on site but advised us to go down the road to Jetty beach. We drove down there and waited, we could see cruise ships coming and going. A crowd soon gathered and we could see the satellite in place with all the steam around the bottom. A local man had a radio and was listening in, eventually he started counting backward and we all joined in. The satellite lifted and what surprised me was the silence, it's not until it gets high up do you get the loud noise. We were extremely lucky to be in the right place at the right time!
