Iceland Ports

Hi,

I'm trying to find out the probability of docking on a cruise to Iceland, any suggestions how to be certain?

Ports - Isafjordur, Akureyri...have assumed Reykjavik will be docked.

Isfiaordur is a tender port. Not sure about Akureyri.

In 2018, we were docked in Akureyri for two nights. We were to have left that second day, but a storm kept us in port. A couple of other ships (or maybe just one, I can’t recall), took over the dock space (we were not supposed to be there any longer), and we moved into the harbor to tender on that third day.

Isafjordur is a tender port. Akureyri is usually a docked port, unless it's very crowded in the harbor that day. Reykjavik is also a docked port, you're right about that.

I have to amend my previous reply for Isafjordur.

 

It is a tender port for larger ships. Small and medium sized ships (tonnage up to approximately 70000) can moor at the pier.
