Taxis in Dover

I hear taxis in Dover are in short supply with several people having to walk to the cruise ship terminal from their hotels.  Anyone know why?  Might be an opportunity to start a shuttle service for someone!

I've no specific answer about Dover. But, in general, we have a shortage of drivers in the UK. Many, my brother in law included, have taken the opportunity of the pandemic to find better paid jobs with fewer unsocial hours of work. He now does home deliveries for one of the supermarket chains - better paid, fixed hours, paid holidays - a "proper" job if you will.
