Rare TxTeach79 Posted June 24, 2022 Author #203 Share Posted June 24, 2022 When in Rome….. ya gotta hit the Red Dog. Even during late breakfast hours.
Rare TxTeach79 Posted June 24, 2022 Author #204 Share Posted June 24, 2022 With so many ships in town (one of the busiest days of the season apparently, here and Ketchikan) we knew the Dog would be slammed later in the day. We’re on vacation, so hey! Why not? How’s about a nice Red Dog Red? Big time college memories kicked in…. This beer was much better, but it didn’t get me through as much for a lot less!

Rare TxTeach79 Posted June 24, 2022 Author #209 Share Posted June 24, 2022 Note up front: our bartender at Red Dog carefully layered the three ingredients by pouring them over a cherry…. Other places we had em they pretty much just dumped everything in the glass like I would at home
Rare TxTeach79 Posted June 24, 2022 Author #210 Share Posted June 24, 2022 Sooooo, does she stutter, or is there a hood in her closet? not making the joke. Not here. You can. I won’t. Red Dog gift shop: keeping the iPod relevant 1
Rare TxTeach79 Posted June 24, 2022 Author #211 Share Posted June 24, 2022 And onward, onto the streets of Juneau! We had an excursion scheduled for 1pm, so we would spend the first half of the day exploring

Rare TxTeach79 Posted June 24, 2022 Author #213 Share Posted June 24, 2022 You’re darn right we are. Also, B loved the planters hanging throughout the city with the fresh flowers. She’s right, they really are beautiful and add such a cozy warm vibe to it all. We could never do that in Dallas because they’d literally catch fire. really wanted to go in here but it was still closed. also, don’t be confused. There’s no beer at the Alaskan Brewery store downtown. It’s just a two story gift shop.
Rare TxTeach79 Posted June 24, 2022 Author #214 Share Posted June 24, 2022 Oh HECK yes. Think we found a gem, baby. couldn’t have been more right. Awesome dive bar, insanely friendly locals, and a couple from the Royal Princess complaining that “the ship is beautiful but we’re so bored. You can only listen to so much classical music and be in bed by 8” The people watching tho
Rare TxTeach79 Posted June 24, 2022 Author #215 Share Posted June 24, 2022 We loved the Triangle Club. Family owned spot, insanely friendly people. Talked with one local who owned a book selling business and another older fella who had spent the better part of his life as a mechanic on Holland America’s bus fleet. also, what sorcery is this hot dog machine anyway? The woman a couple stools down got one and it looked pretty good, so hey… maybe they’re onto something with this ferriswheel cooker 3
Rare TxTeach79 Posted June 24, 2022 Author #216 Share Posted June 24, 2022 So right across the street was this little mini food truck/kiosk park. It was so cool! Right away we noticed Deckhand Dave’s fish tacos, a spot I’d heard about on an episode of Food Paradise. Gotta try it. Lunch plans solved.
Rare TxTeach79 Posted June 24, 2022 Author #217 Share Posted June 24, 2022 (edited) Cool little zone with lots of food and drink options. We ordered at the truck and they brought it out to us Edited June 24, 2022 by TxTeach79
Rare TxTeach79 Posted June 24, 2022 Author #218 Share Posted June 24, 2022 B is a big seltzer fan, so she gave the Alaskan variety a shot and she really dug it. meanwhile, I had to get my hands on a Rainier while I was here. I was mad I forgot to at the Pioneer in Sitka. It was everything I wanted it to be. Makes a Miller Lite taste like Guinness. 2

Rare TxTeach79 Posted June 24, 2022 Author #222 Share Posted June 24, 2022 Between the two of us, we ripped through salmon, halibut, and rockfish tacos. Just don’t see menus like that back home, not at taco trucks on the street! the salmon taco was absolute hot fire. DELICIOSO. #beyondreproach
Rare TxTeach79 Posted June 24, 2022 Author #223 Share Posted June 24, 2022 I do not need to know which direction to get home right now, thankyouverymuch. At least it’s far. (And fifty degrees hotter)

Catch ya next time. No regrets. I would probably like to hit that gondola one day too. Looks wild up there! Heard the views are killer.

Also my first taste of beer as a young buck. Still remember that day in Trout Lake, WA where they retired. My Grandma would have had a conniption fit. 😆 Used to get those Red Dogs for like $6 a 12-pack back in the days too. That and a couple of Mad Dogg 2020's and you had a party!
