What is the preferred currency for tipping onboard? Apologies if this has been stated in an other post, have searched but can't find what I'm looking for. Thanks

The tips are already included in your fare and Marella remind you of this during the cruise. If you do want to tip use any currency you have or maybe euros for a european cruise etc.

Do you mean the compulsary gratuities that no one knows how much they are ,no one knows who gets them , certainly the staff dont know ,theres nothing about them in their employment contract or anything shown in there salary statement (and yes i have seen both)

As Dave says you are not obliged to tip but they are grateful for anything and in any currency, they are normally very helpful and deserve a little extra. Sometimes a little momento goes down well.

Like you said Roger, have only done Caribbean with Marella, on the newer ships and have given the B.R.stewards, and bar staff that little extra all in Dollars, and they are always grateful like you said.
