Iceland Extension

Disembarking in Bergen. Iceland extension cancelled due to SAS strike. They are going to put us up in a hotel until flights, etc. sorted out. Lots of unhappy campers.

Oh what a disappointment!  Just saw on news last night that SAS declared bankruptcy.  Well there is a lot to do and see in Bergen.

We sat around (theater, etc.) until 3 pm. Then to Hotel Norge for two nights. Then train to Oslo and Clarion Hub for four nights. About 150 - 200 in our "group" of impacted travelers. People "got out" a few at a time, often with very weird flight arrangements and long layovers (one couple got 17 hours at JFK!). Lunches and dinners at decent restaurants mess hall style. We got home yesterday after flying all day and having to deal with the insanity that is AMS & ORD. Pretty good cruise overall but too many straws on the camel's back --- Gulf of Finland turned into two nights in Oslo (Mariehamn cancelled and Bornholm missed), spotty service in Manfredi's and other annoyances. Viking is not yet back on their game.

We wonder what the situation was for the next bunch of cruisers on the subsequent Bergen - Stockholm . If we couldn't get out of Bergen there had to be issues with getting in. Scuttlebutt had it that Jupiter delayed sailing for a day.
