Car rental Hawai islands

When you rent a car in Maui does the rental company provide shuttle service to the site at the airport? Is it adequate? What is the distance from ship to rental site? If you keep the car overnight where do you park?

Same question for Hilo ..and Kona

We rented a car at every port when we went on ncl in Hawaii. There were many rental company shuttles at the dock. We just went with the first one, I'm sure the rates were all about the same. our cruise didn't stay the night so i cant help with that.

I think the only tricky one might be Kona, the rental places (airport) aren't so close to dock. Kona is such a nice walking town I like to skip renting there anyway.

I would make reservations in advance. Some people did not get cars in Hawaii Plus you get the rate you want not what they are willing to charge. In Maui and Kuaui, the rental sites are close to airport. In Maui there is free parking near the pier, but can fill up. In Kuaui you can park in a lot near ship for $10. Ship leaves early on 2nd day in Kuaui so you may want to turn in late the first day
