It's been a few years since I disembarked in Baltimore, but having used facial recognition in Miami and Bayonne, it certainly seems to speed things along for those with passports.

After you disembark the ship and walk into the terminal area for customs you will simply step up to the monitor which will capture a photo of your face and then you'll be on your way.  They do recommend that you keep your passport handy in case there is an issue with the photo.  It's a very quick process.

The more important issue, as least for those of us who desire to limit Big Brother, is the training of those individuals directing inspection traffic. At Bayonne, New Jersey, I have found that it is very simple to decline photo recognition and instead have regular immigration inspection, with all persons involved cooperative and efficient in doing so. Hopefully Baltimore personnel are being similarly trained.
