Luggage storage in Pireaus port?

I am a first time visitor to Greece. My cruise is ending at Pireaus and I have a hotel for two nights in Athens before flying home.

 

I'd like to explore a little bit when I get off the ship since i can't check in to my hotel till afternoon. Has anyone here used a luggage storage or locker service at the port?

 

Is it necessary to book in advance or can I just show up? Thank you!

Almost every hotel will hold your luggage until your room is available. And there's not that much to see in Piraeus. I would just head for your hotel upon disembarking, hand over your luggage and start enjoying Athens.

I agree with @cruisemom42.  She is correct as always.  You should just go to your hotel and have them store it for you.  

 

It seems weird that you'd store your luggage at Piraeus.  Were you thinking about storing your luggage in Piraeus, getting to Athens, sightseeing Athens, in the evening going back to Piraeus, picking up the luggage, and going back to Athens again?  

 

If you really cannot store it at your lodging, such as you rented a private residence, then take your luggage with you to downtown in the morning, and store the luggage in any number of storage facilities in downtown Athens.  By “downtown” in Athens, I mean the area around Syntagma Square. There are several luggage storage facilities, but here are the three closest to Syntagma:
