alaskamasta Posted March 2, 2006 #1 Share Posted March 2, 2006 Hi, Can anyone recommend one of these over the other? They both sound fantastic from what I've read and well worth the $20. MORE IMPORTANTLY, does anyone know if we can book reservations at one or the other ahead of time (prior to boarding)? If so, how??
Rare Coral Posted March 3, 2006 #2 Share Posted March 3, 2006 Sorry I can't compare but I can tell you that my dinner at Chops was phenomenial! I wish I had gone there more then once during my cruise.

Riley13 Posted March 3, 2006 #5 Share Posted March 3, 2006 Chops was fantastic, and well worth the money. We did not get the chance to try Portafino. To answer your other question, I tried to make reservations pre-cruise, but it wasn't possible. We went directly to Chops after dropping off our carry-ons in the room, and had our choice of any times for all evenings. I had to call and change the time a few days into our cruise, and it was still not a problem to obtain a reservation. We only had 2 in our party, and I did notice there were very few larger tables, so it may be more difficult if you are in a group.
dgund Posted March 3, 2006 #6 Share Posted March 3, 2006 I have eaten at Chops and Portofinos and found them both to be excellent. I would have to give a slight edge to Portofinos
kyriecat Posted March 3, 2006 #7 Share Posted March 3, 2006 I've tried both, but loved Portofinos better. Book as soon as you get settled in onboard because they do get sold out sometimes. Try posting on the RC cruise board if you want more opinions.
