MykeN Posted March 2, 2006 #1 Share Posted March 2, 2006 Does anyone know if there is sports coverage on board? My wife and I are cruising April 7th on Brilliance of the Seas. I am hoping I might get to see some of the Nascar racing. Thanks for any info. Myke
GMoney Posted March 3, 2006 #2 Share Posted March 3, 2006 Hi - Unfortutunately, RCI's sports coverage is spotty at best. They generally do have ESPN. Assuming you are in the Caribbean, you will get either regular ESPN or the Latin America version (which is in Spanish and soccer-centric). They also generally have TNT, which also alternates between the US and LA versions. If you get the US version, you will be able to see their standrad sports programming (NBA on Thursdays, some Nascar, I think). Beyond that, there's not too much else. They will pipe in big events (SuperBowl, for example), and I bet they will pipe in some of the NCAA Basketball tournament (just how much, I'm not sure). Check the sports bar and see what they can do, but I doubt you'll see your event.

It is right outside of the casino. It was packed with people watching all different sports when we sailed on her. It was a very popular place. GMoney Posted March 3, 2006 #5 Share Posted March 3, 2006 In my experience, sports programming for all RCI ships in the Caribbean is similar to what I described for Brilliance.
Honeymooner3310 Posted March 3, 2006 #6 Share Posted March 3, 2006 I have been on a ship in March before and they had the Final Four in all the rooms.
Pumbaamd Posted March 3, 2006 #7 Share Posted March 3, 2006 We've sailed twice on the Brilliance. They have shown all the major sports events when we were on board. We are also NASCAR fans, but have not been on board during race season. We've noticed that if enough people show interest in a certain event, the Brilliance TV crew will make an effort to find that event on satellite. We've found the Brilliance to have an excellent in room TV system. Call and/or E-mail ahead and request NASCAR TV. When you go aboard, request it at the desk. When you shake hands with the Captain on the first formal night, ask him about it. Frequent the Sports Bar where the bartender is Daniel. Treat him right and talk up NASCAR. He knows a little about Jeff Gordon and Junior, and knows the satellite crew. Also, Danny, at the Lobby Bar, seems to be able to get things done. Talk with him and say Rick and Deirdra hope is new camera is working fine and can he send us some pic's of his vacation. Keep at it, the squeaking wheel works.
