So, no covid tests needed now for any cruises.

HAVE FUN. BE SAFE.™ COVID-19 GUEST PROTOCOLS

Last updated 29 August 2023

Effective immediately, we are making it easier for all guests, irrespective of vaccination status, to sail on cruises of any length from Australia. Proof of vaccination, pre-cruise testing, and application for a vaccine exemption are no longer required. Reservations are now confirmed for all guests, including for those awaiting a vaccine exemption.

This only applies to cruises leaving from Australia.  As of right now, we still need to be vaxxed and provide a negative Covid test for this cruise.

Sorry, I meant to post that in the other roll call for the sailing in April from Australia.

GUEST ADVISORY

SAILING PROTOCOLS & REQUIREMENTS UPDATE
CARNIVAL LUMINOSA – SEPTEMBER 14, 2023

September 6, 2023

Dear Carnival Luminosa Guest,

We are in the final stages of preparation for your Carnival Journeys Transpacific voyage and have updates and reminders for you.

Since our last email in relation to protocols for this cruise, the Australian government made the decision to lift COVID protocols for all guests. Therefore, proof of vaccination, pre-cruise testing, and application for a vaccine exemption are no longer required. Reservations are now confirmed for all guests, including for those awaiting a vaccine exemption.

If you have symptoms of respiratory illness within 5 days of embarkation, please test for COVID-19. If you receive a positive result, you will not be able to travel. Please contact our customer service team at 1-800-CARNIVAL to discuss your options.

We remain unwavering in our commitment to the well-being and safety of our guests, crew, and the communities we visit. We will continue to abide by our strict and robust hygiene standards, whilst closely collaborating with relevant health authorities.

PASSPORT REQUIREMENTS & IMMIGRATION CLEARANCE IN PORTS OF CALL

All guests are required to carry a passport with validity of at least 6 months after the last day of the cruise. Additionally, you must carry a printed copy of the biometrics/picture page of your passport for immigration processing in the Philippines and to accompany you ashore in Indonesia. Further information regarding immigration clearance for our ports of call will be provided on board.

VISA REQUIREMENTS

Depending on your nationality, specific travel documentation may be required to enter some of the destinations we will be visiting. Please visit the links below to determine whether visas are required for your nationality. If your nationality requires that you obtain a physical visa stamped in your passport, please take the necessary steps ahead of your cruise to provide one for presentation at check-in to avoid denial of boarding.
  1. Japan: Determine whether a Japanese visa is required for your nationality here.
  2. Philippines: Most nationalities do not require a visa to visit Philippines. Determine whether a Philippine visa is required for your nationality here. All guests are required to register their travel on the official Philippines online registration portal (eTravel), but may only do so within 4 days prior to arrival in the country. Complimentary access to the eTravel portal will be provided on the ship, so guests can apply and receive an eTravel personalized QR code, which must be presented for immigration clearance on board upon arrival in the Philippines. More details about this process will be provided during the voyage.
  3. Indonesia: All guests are required to have a visa to enter Indonesia. Citizens of certain countries are eligible to apply for an Electronic Visa on Arrival (e-VOA). Eligible guests must apply for the e-VOA ahead of the cruise and present proof at embarkation. We understand that some guests have had difficulties attempting to complete the e-VOA online. We have confirmed with Indonesian immigration officials that we will be able to process the visa on board. The cost will be US$35, per applicant. To determine your eligibility for the e-VOA, please visit this link for more information.
  4. Australia: Guests who are not citizens of Australia or New Zealand will need an Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA) or a visa to enter Australia. Visit this link  to determine which is required for your nationality.
Guests may contact our partners at VisaCentral for support with visa information and application process.

While we will do our best to provide you with as much information as possible, you should always ensure that you follow all travel and documentation requirements for this cruise. Unfortunately, guests who do not have the required documentation will not be able to sail and no compensation will be provided.

RECOMMENDED TRAVEL INSURANCE

We highly recommend that all guests purchase medical travel insurance for the duration of the voyage. Carnival’s Vacation Protection may be purchased by eligible guests up to 14 days prior to sailing (not counting embarkation day).

ONBOARD PROTOCOLS

We remain, as always, committed to the health and safety of our guests, crew, and the communities we serve. We will be sailing for 30 days, and it is our goal to minimize any possibility of the transmission of illnesses during the voyage, so everyone arrives in Brisbane healthy and safe. For complete information on our protocols, please visit our Have Fun. Be Safe. page on Carnival.com.au.

Masks are not required on board during the cruise. However, we recommend guests wear masks in public indoor spaces, outdoors when in large congregate events where physical distancing cannot be maintained. In addition, we reserve the right to recommend more specific mask guidelines during the cruise if we determine it will protect the public health of all on board.

We will also be observing the following guidelines and protocols on board.
  1. Once we enter international waters, our smoking policy will align with our U.S. cruise guidelines. This will allow actively playing guests to smoke in designated areas of the casino. Smoking in undesignated areas, including staterooms and balconies, and discharging any item overboard, are prohibited and will result in a $500 charge, per violation. This applies to all forms of smoking, including cigarettes, cigars, pipes, vaporizers, and electronic cigarettes. Marijuana smoking is not permitted.
  2. For the duration of the voyage, the minimum age to consume alcohol will be 21 years.
  3. All transactions will be conducted in U.S. dollars, so kindly plan accordingly. We encourage you to come prepared with U.S. currency (cash and/or credit) for your onboard incidental spending as our team will have a limited amount of U.S. dollars to facilitate currency exchange from Australian dollars (only).
  4. Recommended gratuities will be applied at a rate of US$16 (standard staterooms) and US$18 (suites), per guest, per day. Unless pre-paid, these amounts will be automatically added to your onboard Sail & Sign® account as a convenience. While on board, you are free to adjust gratuities at your discretion. No adjustments will be made after the cruise. Our shipboard team members work hard to provide exceptional and friendly service, so we hope you will agree that this is well-deserved.
VIFP DIAMOND & PLATINUM BENEFITS

Due to the extremely high number of VIFP Diamond and Platinum guests joining us on this voyage, we are making a few operation changes that are consistent with other Carnival Journeys cruises.  We apologize for any disappointment and appreciate your understanding.
  1. We will not be able to offer priority embarkation or debarkation (including at any of the ports of call).
  2. Staterooms will be ready after 1:30 PM. Once on board, please feel free to drop off any carry-on luggage in your stateroom before heading to lunch.
  3. Related to Diamond guests, due to capacity limitations, we cannot guarantee main dining room seating requests for dinner.
We apologize for any disappointment and appreciate your understanding.

CARNIVAL TOURS

Due to the holiday season in Kushiro, Carnival tours will not be offered. We know this impacts your plans to enjoy your time ashore and are sorry for the disappointment.  In the event you are staying on board, our amazing team will have many activities and entertainment for you to enjoy.

This Transpacific voyage is promising to be a FUN and memorable one and our entire Carnival Luminosa team is looking forward to welcoming you on board!

Sincerely,

Hello Everyone,

I'm Sara and my husband John and I just found out we can go on this cruise. My sister in law is a gambler and booked this cruise a while ago. My husband and I Are super excited.  We are interested in any tours available, in The Pacific.  We were on a B2B last summer on the NCL Spirit through Alaska, ( a 9 day and 10 day). We were able to see the northern lights with a night mode phone camera, in theocean near Juneau.    In Juneau we went on a once in A lifetime air, sea, boat tour of Taku Glacier ,it was super expensive but so awesome.  We walked , airboated, and helicoptered on a glacier. We found it at one of the booths at the port. Icy Strait Point is kinda like a port the cruise ship Made. The actual Town of Hoona is not far .You would need to take the sky tram to Icy Strait point. Then walk to the end of the shops and take  the bus/van to Hoona. In Hoona you can find fishing and whale tours.  We just happened to find this out because we were exploring.  We went on a whale and wildlife  tour for 2-3 hours.  We saw seals, puffins, and whales lots of whales very close up. So if your interested I would look up Hoona, Alaska for tours.

In Ketchikan we went on the cruise sponsored train ride we enjoyed that, and in town there's a place that has huge pieces of fry bread , it's a nice sweet treat. I hope that helps someone who has not been to Alaska. So if anyone has any tips for any of our other ports We would really appreciate it .  And if anyone needs people to fill up tours please let us Know.  lingard123@gmail.com

We look forward to meeting people on this great adventure.

Post 204 is referring to cruises starting in Australia.  It's my understanding we still need a negative test results if you are leaving from Seattle.

I received the exact same email on 9/6. The heading clearly references our sailing on 9/14/23:
