etravel Posted September 27, 2022 #1 Share Posted September 27, 2022 (edited) So we will be in Halifax on October 8th, decided to tour the city on our own. We will be in port from 8am to 5pm. So thinking about hitting these sites, not quite sure in what order! 1. Halifax Public Garden 2. Citadel National Historic Site (check it out and watch the gun shoot at 12 noon) 3. head to lunch at Salty's (or similar) 4. Maritime museum 5. Keith Smith Brewery (I don't think the tour is available that day, but hoping we can still go in and have a beer!) and/or Garrison Brewing Company 6. explore historic Halifax and the waterfront. Anything we should really add or take out? How long would you allow for the Maritime Museum, the gardens, or the Citadel? Thanks for any advice... We spent 3 hrs in the Museum, it was not crowded, we took our time and really see everything in it ! .. @ hours should be enough if not crowed ! it seem like it was the last stop on bus tours and got packed as we were leaving ! 2 ship in port last visit. If I remember right 7 yrs ago we walked to citadel, it was a up hill walk ! we will also be there 10/6/22 but use mobility scooter now ( started June 2022) enjoy u trip the walk front is real nice with lots of place to snack or eat/drink
etravel Posted September 28, 2022 Author #3 Share Posted September 28, 2022 Update Alexander Keith's Brewery added some tour times for Oct.8th...so we are scheduled on that for 2pm, one hour tour and the stroll the waterfront and back to the ship... so in the a.m. we will probably visit the Maritime Museum, public garden (if time), check out the Citadel and watch the gun shoot at 12 noon, head to Salty's for lunch, and then our beer tour! Sounds like a pretty good day...How long does public garden take to tour it?
SueMo Posted September 29, 2022 #4 Share Posted September 29, 2022 I believe the tourist information center at the seaport has a "Welcome to Halifax!" official urban walking tour map that you can pick up.
