If you don't have Global Entry, please consider downloading Mobile Passport Control, if you'll be entering the US through an airport that accepts MPC.  You may find information on this app and airports where you can use this to clear immigration here:

It's free and easy to use.  I worked arrivals yesterday at my airport and five international flights arrived around the same time.  Many people missed their connecting flights because the wait to clear immigration was so long.  Those who downloaded this app were able to get in a very short line and clear in just a few minutes.

I would add, TSA pre-check or Clear does not give you Global Entry Access, and the interview upon arrival for Global Entry at some airports has been suspended for lack of funding.  Hopefully, when the new government fiscal year begins 01 October, this will open up again.
