Oceania Marina October 23 Jerusalem Tour

Does anyone have any recommendations for private tours of Jerusalem? We'll be in Ashdod port on Oct. 23 and looking for an excursion to Jerusalem and maybe the Dead Sea.  Any rec's?

We used Guided Tours Israel back in September.

I believe that is who we used in 2017, especially if the owner is Leo. If correct, they were fantastic and quite well priced. We took tours for two days.

That is the same company.  We did a tour out of Haifa and one out of Ashod.  We enjoyed both of our tours.

Two questions please.

 

We have done a tour into Jerusalem from Haifa previously.

With Ashdod being closer, what would be a conservative travel time in a van from Jerusalem to Ashdod.  This would be on a Monday, or possibly on a Friday ?

 

Also, has anyone done an overnight in Jerusalem whilst the ship moves from Haifa to Ashdod, or vice versa ?

Travel time from Jerusalem to Ashdod is dependent upon traffic. I would guess it is a good hour to hour and half at the minimum. From Haifa we did the Northern Israel Christian Tour and it was an 8 1/2 to 9 hour tour.  From Ashdod we did Jerusalem and the Dead Sea and again it was a good 8 hour day.

We are aware appropriate permissions would be required beforehand.

Another vote for Guided Tours Israel.  

 

We got their name from these boards 10 years ago and used them.  Outstanding.  They are still recommended as a top tour provider there.

Dear Fellow Cruiser:

 

I would highly recommend that you do not tour Jerusalem on Friday.  The Old City will be crowded with possible closures and the market will be very crowded.  Everything (tourist interests) will close early including many restaurants.  Go to the Dead Sea or a beach on Friday and Saturday.
