Rare PrincessArlena'sDad Posted October 28, 2022 #1 Share Posted October 28, 2022 We have never been to New Orleans before. We're sailing on the Glory Aug 13. Flying in on Sat Aug 12. Cruise returns on Sun Aug 20, but with 6 of us, and air fare about $120pp more on a Sunday, we'll stay over until Mon, or maybe Tues, depending on the hotel rate and if there's something particular we'd like to do for the day. Southwest doesn't have their schedule out that far yet, but, based on July's schedule, it looks like we'll arrive on Aug 12 at 2:45 pm, and depart for home at either 11:15 am or 4:45 pm. We're taking my 82 year old father-in-law with us on this trip, he's never been on a cruise before, but always wanted to, so travel plans need to take his mobility into account. He can walk fine, just not very long distances. We also have 3 kids. We want to all stay in one vehicle, so uber/lyft is out. In considering hotels and transports, convenience is the most important consideration. Questions: 1. What areas should we look at for pre and post cruise hotels? 2. Transport recommendations: MSY to hotel / hotel to port / port to hotel / hotel to MSY 3. Would renting a car be more trouble than it's worth? With 6 of us plus luggage, we'd need something really big. 4. Ideas for spending the Sunday upon our return, Monday morning if we take the 4:45 flight, all day Monday if we go home Tues, and maybe Tues morning Thanks! Here's another tip. Go to google maps and insert NOLA in the search bar. Then you can search for hotels and dining. This will be in map view so you can see what dining is available close to various hotels. https://www.google.com/maps/place/New+Orleans,+LA/@30.0326981,-90.1634648,10z/data=!3m1!4b1!4m5!3m4!1s0x8620a454b2118265:0xdb065be85e22d3b4!8m2!3d29.9510658!4d-90.0715323
