Hi all ~ I'm really sorry to be a bit slow in posting updates to our Roll Call ~ been juggling too many things............should be able to check in here more often now as we finally have our excursions (all except one) organized and our travel arrangements are complete 🙂  Here's the latest; hope I made all of the updates requested, but just lemme know and I'll fix what needs fixin!

I am so happy that after 2 cancelled honeymoons cruises we are close to our transatlantic cruise. We are going to be in Barcelona for two days prior to see a few sites. Getting really excited.

May 1st - is international worker's day - and is a public holiday in Spain (and many other European countries). . I believe in the past there have been protests on that date - ....and I assume you are hearing about a planned protest on that date as well?  (specifically in Barcelona?  or other places in Spain as well?)

I have heard about the international worker's day, and understand these things occur, but my main question is that I did not sign up for any updates and have received two thus far.  This one happens to be related to the protest. 

I was wondering if the cruise line provides information to the consulate of the country we depart from.

I don't think the cruise line has anything to do with this?  I am canadian so can't speak about US travel notifications, but I do know in some cases I did once in a while get travel advisories which I think were 'triggered' by my airline reservation?  

 

Maybe someone in the US can provide any further insight on why you are getting these especially if you did not sign up for them???

Spain to N.Y.C. Can somebody tell me can I buy Euros at a ATM machine at Barcelona air port?

We are staying at the Arc la Rambla Hotel will they pick you up at the airport an take you to your hotel.

Well you will most likely become 'addicted' to transatlantics like the rest of us?  🙂

 

I usually get euros before I leave so not sure about airport ATM machines, but no centrally located hotels as far as I know will pick you up at the airport - there are however lots of private pickup/driver services that you can arrange a pickup with - or just grab a taxi at the airport - very easy to do as well!

A1 non-stop bus from the airport can take you to Plaça Catalunya.  I've done it twice and it is easy if you can handle your suitcases.  I'm not sure where your hotel is relative to the Placa.  But that is another option.
