Why are there no No-Smoking cabins?

While on the subject of smells, how about a perfume/cologne free area. My sister is an asthmatic and the smells trigger it. We have had to leave ares of the ship to get away from the smells. Wish people would quit wearing it.

Now THAT makes sense. There are some women out there that must smell like Pepe LePhew without their chemical dosage covering the smell. Someone who smells clean is much preferred over someone who smells like they just fell in a vat of O'de Toilet.

PS - Guess I shouldn't pick on just women because there have been a man or two that needs to take a step away from the tonic water bottle as well.

I'm a smoker, but my husband is not. I don't smoke in my home. I don't smoke in my car and I don't smoke in non-smoking areas.

Nothing upsets me more than when I'm in a non-smoking area with my family and someone lights up a cigarette with my children right there. If I can manage not to pollute their lungs (and it's hard sometimes) I would expect the same from others.

I hate to admit that I'm totally with the non-smokers on this one. Here is Columbus we have gotten use to the smoke-free bars and restraunts. It really isn't much trouble, especially when there is no snow. I don't smoke in the bars and casino, because I'm always conciderate of those around me. Even when outside if I'm sitting, in the smoking area, next to someone I don't see smoking I always ask if it would bother them. Of course I've never been told that it would. I don't smoke in the cabins because I don't like smelling an ashtray when I'm trying to sleep, very distracting.

I don't think I'm 'different' than other smokers, I just think it's a cultural/regional thing. Some within my own family (cousins, aunts, etc.) smoke in inappropriate places, and I yell at them for that. They don't understand how a smoker could be so strict about this issue. I think one of the reasons CCL hasn't done anything about the smoking issue is that they really can't. Well, they could, but they would probably lose a customer, who is probably married/traveling with a non-smoker, thus losing 2 customers.... and well, they are a business! Plus, let's remember, they don't police chair hogs either.

I agree that at least 60% of the cabins should be non-smoking, if not 100%. This isn't for the adults that a griping about the smoke, but for the children who really have no say.

Jackie,

Here in Florida, most bars and all restaurants are smoke-free and it has destroyed the business of some of the smaller bars. I don't go to the restaurants any longer because I enjoy a cigarette with coffee after dinner and why waste my money. I also don't smoke in the cabin because I travel with non-smoking family members but I do smoke on the balcony.

I DO think you're "different" than any smoker I have met. If I'm in a smoking area, I will smoke. It has not been a 50/50 split for smokers and non-smokers and in my opinion, the smokers are being discriminated against. I attribute it to politics and money and the fact that people need someone to blame.

And I believe CCL has gone overboard to appease the non-smokers. Since my first CCL cruise 9 years ago, most of the ship is now non-smoking. They don't even have an area in the aft pool area on Lido or in the Atrium area on Deck 3 on the Liberty for smokers. I find this very inconvenient and discriminatory and I pay the same price for my cruise as the non-smokers. I should be treated equally.

I doubt if the non-smoking cabins would work. As someone has mentioned, many families have both smokers and non-smokers. At some point, they wouldn't be able to fill the ship as was the case with the Paradise. I think they do an excellent job of cleaning the cabins and if you smell smoke when you arrive, they will gladly clean it again for you.

You are so right. Folks that overload are missing the point. Perfume is only meant to be smelled when you are close enough to "really enjoy it".

Maybe I am remembering wrong but isn't the aft pool an "adults only" area? If so why would they allow smoking only by the pools that accomodate the kids? That makes no sense to me. Please set me straight if I'm off on this.

CrazyMums,

I understand about the small owner operated bars and such, initially after the smoking ban business was hurt though now it is back to where it was to begin with. Maybe I am different, but I still don't think so. I have never had a problem finding a spot on deck to smoke. Of course, as a rule, I don't lay by the pool on deck. I always get annoyed when someone splashes water on me (cold water/warm skin - not a good combination). Anyways, the smoking issue isn't going to be fixed & it's not going to go away. We, as smokers, might be discriminated against but second hand smoke does kill people. My biggest complaint is people smoking around children. I believe it is Georgia that even has a law now against smoking in a car with children... I may be wrong, but that is what I heard. I actually enjoy smoking, but just won't do it around non-smokers unless they say it is fine. But, as my husband doesn't smoke I need him around for the children and grandchildren once I die from lung cancer! :D JMO though.

I've never paid more than $600 pp for a balcony, so I really can't claim that. Gotta love CCL's military discount.
