European Extension and Air

When doing a pre-cruise extension (Madrid),  is one required to use Viking Air? If not, does Viking still provide a transfer to the hotel?

I don't believe you are ever "required" to use Viking Air.  I have heard that you can "purchase" transfer services but I think the opportunities are limited.

Yes, the extension includes the transfer, regardless of whether you use Viking air.  For example the description of our pre cruise extension in Athens coming up says:

ALL THIS IS INCLUDED:

• 2 hotel nights in Athens
• 2 meals: 2 breakfasts
• Services of a Viking Host
• All transfers

Prior to the Neptune's TA, we booked the Midrid extension. Since we were spending a couple of weeks in UK, we booked our own flights to Madrid. We had to advise Viking, as they would still pick us up at the airport, as per the Pax Statement.

We have purchased an extension for a cruise starting in London. Flying from Australia to Heathrow, there are limited options for flights available. We purchased our own flights. When talking to Viking, they stated as we land at 5am, the will not honour transfers as it is too early in the morning.
