Easiest Beach to Walk to from a Hawaii Cruise Port

We've never been to a cruise to Hawaii, but have been there many times.  If you are going to the island of Kauai, you will dock at Nawiliwili harbor near Lihue. There is a beach at hotel nearby you can easily walk to, less than half-mile.  Remember, all beaches on Hawaii are public even though they are at a hotel.  There may be a special walkway for the public to use to get from the street to the beach, instead of walking through the lobby of the hotel, but you can definitely use the beach.

Totally agree with Torquer’s suggestion of the beach at Nawiliwili.  It is a short walk, maybe 10 minutes from where the ship docks.  Safe beach with restaurants right there.
On a side note don’t miss the ship coming in and out of the port at Nawiliwili…it’s amazing,

There is a beach right next to the tender dock at Kona, Hawaii.  A number of passengers on our Feb 2022 Koningsdam cruise enjoyed it.  Volcanic situation may impact that port...hope not.

Thanks very much. Greatly appreciated.

Thanks for the tip about coming  into and out of Nawiliwili. I will be making sure we don't miss it.

Agree the beach near Kauai pier is AWESOME and isn't likely to be real busy.

In Honolulu there is NOT a close beach to walk to.  You can however take The Bus from the pier to Ala Moana Beach Park (about 10-15 minutes) which is a lot closer to the pier than Waikiki Beach.  When pau (done) with your beach time, the Ala Moana Shopping Center (largest open air shopping mall in the USA with more than 350 shops and restaurants and over 160 dining options) is just across the street, which is where you would pick up the bus anyway to return to the pier.

Thank you very much. We have been to Honolulu before and this gives us a great way to spend the day there.

Will be on the Koningsdam for the Mexico - Hawii Cruise leaving from San Diego on January 7, 2023. Would like to walk to a beach at one of the Ports in Hawaii. Any recommendations?

The Koningsdam stops at Lahaina for Maui and there is Kamehameha Iki Park literally 500 yards from where the tender lands. I like Kalapaki Beach (Kauai) a lot, but Kamehameha Iki Park is a lot closer.

There is also a local bus (Ka'anapali Islander) from the tender dock area to Ka'anapali, which is a great beach.

The Waikiki District has several great beaches and that is an easy, not too expensive Uber ride.
